Soma Cruz can find the Chronomage very early in the game, in the Inner Quarters. The Chronomage casting Time Stop in a corridor of the Inner Quarters. Because of this, the only way to defeat him is by acquiring Galamoth's soul, which grants the Time Stop Immunity ability, or by using his own soul. He is impossible to defeat through normal means, immediately spotting the player whenever they approach him (or even attack) within the area he is in, and using his clock to reverse time, effectively transporting the player to the previous area. The Chronomage is a rabbit-like creature who uses a clock to stop time.

The Chronomage in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow sports a waistcoat, a stopwatch, and is 'strict in regards to tardiness', much like the White Rabbit from the story. The Rabbit shows up again in the last few chapters, as a herald-like servant of the King and Queen of Hearts. She encounters him again when he mistakes her for his housemaid and she becomes trapped in his house after growing too large. He appears at the very beginning of the book, in chapter one, wearing a waistcoat and muttering: 'Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!' Alice follows him down the rabbit hole into Wonderland. The Chronomage is loosely inspired by the White Rabbit, a fictional and anthropomorphic character in Lewis Carroll's 1865 book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
